Praying for the Father’s Kingdom & Will
Jesus taught his disciples to pray for the Father’s kingdom to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Much has been written about what this means.
In this present world, kingdom is not a place but rather an attitude of the heart that seeks to bring the Father’s love and desire to all people. It is to live as Jesus lived, to feed the hungry, to give water to the thirsty, to bind up the wounds of the heartbroken, to love the ones considered to be un-loveable. It is to show the love of the Father for his children, so that they can live secure from harm, from exploitation. It is to want all that the heaven has to offer; no more tears, no more death, no more mourning, no more pain. Revelation 21:4
The Father’s desire (will) is that we believe in the Son, Jesus who gave his life for us so that our sins are forgiven, to be given a clean slate before God, for relationship with Him. His will is that we would want what he does for the world, to love him, to trust him and to allow him to reign in our lives, not as a dictator would but in the most loving way that we can imagine.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. It is to pray that this would be so in our own lives and in the lives of all that we pray for.
